Alterations and additions to an existing Californian bungalow to create a new rear extension opening onto a garden to the north.

Comprising of an open-plan kitchen/living/dining area, and a mezzanine study integrated into the roof line, the new form has been clad in dark stained timber and concrete block work to contrast against the red brick of the existing house. This aesthetic is softened by the introduction of lush greenery that cascades from the roof gardens above.

Internally, the palette is light and bright imbuing a sense of openness, whilst dark accents used in the materiality of the island bench and mesh-clad staircase reference the exterior treatment, articulating continuity and a sense of refinement.
